Why is it important to set Goals and Affirmations for yourself

You have to do everything you can, you have to work your hardest, and if you do, if you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining.

Back in 2018, I wrote a letter to the university of goldsmiths to be admitted into their Master’s program in Marketing and Communications. One of my dream programs, in my dream school. Since then, I have let go of that dream because I am reaching for bigger dreams now, and I have achieved much bigger goals since then, but that is entire because I set a baseline for myself — a direction.

I leave you with this letter below that I have written as part of my admission application (which was rejected — twice). I since then got into Northwestern University School of Communication, and sadly was unable to go either.

“The importance of specialists and experts in the media and communication industry is growing globally and focusing on the continuous developments in social media and corporate communication, advertising, and branding for various types of industries.

I believe that the development of scholars and professionals in the fields of Media & Communications, Marketing and Branding from the Middle East and Especially the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that are fluent in both Arabic and English with an informed background for tailoring messages to the unique culture and society of the region is significant.

Increasingly in the region, various organizations seek the guidance of academics and professionals to realize and implement their communication strategies within the area and rely on to deliver vital and accurate information to the region, especially in marketing global products and technologies.

There is a need for programs to further develop skills in the age of new media and the importance of strategic planning in delivering messages through the increasing number of channels to reach various groups and demographics within society, through the rise of social media, and the convergence of traditional media.

I am eager to research and analyze within an academic and practical environment the development and usage of the social media networks within the GCC societies, the decline in readership in traditional media, and develop effective tailor-made strategies that globally and for this unique region.”

But it all worked out in the end as I am now working in the field I wanted to study and learn more about new media. This proved to me that although education is a tool, it is not the only tool you can use to realize your dreams. The fact is to realize your dreams. You need to set them as goals and work towards them, reminding yourself why did you dare to dream in the first place.
